SHIT, I WAS A WEB CLEANER.
I worked for a very well known social network. As a Web Cleaner I helped clean the internet, like you would clean your house. Except on the web there are stains you cannot even imagine. There is filth you cannot even comprehend. It’s like you threw a party but the Game of Thrones Red Wedding came instead. Child abuse, eating disorders, assault, prostitution, murder, terrorism… horror no person should ever have to see, let alone regulate.
But the Web Cleaners see. And I saw.
Our protagonist Penelope Ruiz also sees. She is in a new city, desperate for work, on the run from her privileged but toxic past, cut off for the first time in her life from her mother’s wealth…
DEVELOPMENT.
In 2022, UNCLEAN was selected for development in the prestigious female Screenwriter Lab Europe, supported by Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman. In 2023 it won the award for Best Pilot at the Filmarket Hub Awards.
Francesca is currently working with Creative Producer Jalessa Jones (formerly of Entertainment One US), and producers Alberto Rull from Vertice 360 (Spain) and Anthony Alleyne from Born Wild (UK) towards making UNCLEAN a reality.
